ACNE

quick sketch of shop front and ground floor

Acne located on Dover street was easy to find, its large display window was covering in an advert for its Autumn winter shoe collection. The light coming from the window was bright and allowed any passer by to get a look at inside without being inside. walking towards the door your feet come across some black and white squared old fashioned lino and then the door itself is old fashioned with glass and black framing and oval black framed centre. Once inside you step on bare unvarnished pale wood floor. There is a light yellow grand piano in the centre of the floor with books and a vase of orchids on top. The walls are white and the clothing hung on Black steel like boxy rails ,the clothing here was menswear, with suits and blazers, leather aviators and hats. Some garments such as a distressed patch worked biker jacket were in glass cabinets. On the left side of the store there was a sofa that decreased in size at the end. Upstairs was the women's wear. Towards the back of this space there were large oil paintings near the back depicting old dressing rooms near the window. The lighting was softer than the ground floor. I came across a pair of black wedge boots which i had heard about online and asked a staff member if i could try them on, the member of staff was polite and relaxed and came back with my size. These boots were chunky and the leather was smooth with a slight sheen, they fit well but were out of my price range at £750. There were a few customers in the store , young couples and affluent looking men browsing for suits. This store was interesting as it was very simple but had unique elements which brought it all together.
